As a software developer with considerable experience in open-source projects I can say with certainty that being part of an open-source community has broadened my horizons. It definitely has the potential of bringing your skills to the next level.

"Practice is a great approach to learn new skills, whether you’re a baby or a software engineer." We have many books in our living room but “Proper spoon usage for babies and toddlers. A practical approach” isn’t one of them. My son Fedde (aged 9 months) is getting better and better at it nonetheless.
